Maureen Akers has been the National & Multimedia Sales Manager at WTVM Columbus GA since 2007. As a professional with over 26 years of experience as a dynamic and successful salesperson and manager, she helps the local Media Executives in their efforts to drive revenue for the WTVM brand and help those businesses grow. She also manages the national client list for the station, in charge of driving revenue for regional and national accounts, including political advertising. She is an optimistic, enthusiastic, analytical, and big-picture thinker.

Before being named Local/National Sales Manager at WTVM, she was a Media Executive for 10 years at the same station, responsible for maintaining and growing current clients and adding new advertising clients. Before joining WTVM, she was an Account Executive at TeleCable Targeting in this market. She started her advertising career as an Account Executive for the Lee County Bulletin-Eagle in Auburn, Alabama.

Since 2015, and for brief periods before that time, she has served as the Full Time Host for WTVM’s Business Break: a local lifestyle, event, informative and retail segment that airs within WTVM’s highly viewed news programming.

After graduating from Brookstone School in Columbus, GA, and studying Marketing at Auburn University, she now resides in Midland, GA with her husband and 3 English Setters. Hobbies include running, reading, yoga, camping, dog-walking, Auburn football, and spending time with her family which includes 2 adult children, their spouses, and 5 amazing grandchildren.
